04. Do you accept insurance or offer a sliding fee scale?
I am not able to accept insurance at this time. I do offer a sliding fee scale through Open Path Psychotherapy Collective. Through Open Path, with a lifetime membership fee of $59, you will have access to not only myself but other therapists in the area who offer individual/couples/family therapy sessions at a more affordable cost.
Another option to reduce your therapy cost is to join one of the group sessions that are offered through Whole Hearts Connect. Groups typically cost around $25-35 per session. My goal is to offer process/growth groups (virtual and in-person) in the following topics: Enneagram (self-discovery), couples/premarital/marriage, parenting, and teens.
05. What are the differences in the packages offered?
- Premarital/Marriage Assessment and Counseling using SYMBIS or Prepare/Enrich offers a detailed assessment about each couple including personalities, communication styles, money methods, and more. I will guide each couple through the assessment report and facilitate a meaningful conversation around each topic over the course of four sessions (2 hrs per session). Ideal for engaged couples, or couples seeking a “checkup” on their relationship and/or to develop greater understanding of each other.
- Marriage Assessment and Feedback using Gottman Relationship Checkup offers a more in-depth assessment of each couple, including their strengths and challenges. At the end of three sessions (1.5 hrs per session), I will provide a detailed treatment plan for improving and strengthening your relationship (at which time, we will discuss available options for moving forward; for some couples, no immediate professional service may be necessary). Designed for couples who are facing some difficult challenges or who are seeking to improve their relationship.
- Enneagram Typing Process is a one-hour interview session that is centered around self-discovery and discerning which Enneagram type you may identify with the most. Available for individuals or couples. Click here to read more about the Enneagram.
06. What is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram is a personality typing system that identifies the way each of the nine types perceives and reacts to the world around them. I believe it is a very useful tool to explore one’s core motivation, defense mechanisms, and psychological habits. My goal is to integrate this tool in the therapy process to develop self-awareness and growth. Click here to read more about the Enneagram.
07. Who are your services mainly intended for?
I am a big proponent of therapy, and I believe it can benefit anyone. As Brené Brown said, “Counseling is not about ‘fixing’ people. It’s about being with people where they are and holding an empathic space for people to do their own work.” We all need that safe holding place to process our own stuff.
I work with individuals (age 10 and above), couples, families, and groups dealing with various personal, emotional, and/or relationship issues. Based on the client’s preference, I am able to integrate Christian/spiritual values into the counseling sessions. I also like to integrate the tool of the Enneagram into the therapy process.
08. How long will I/we need to stay in therapy?
If you have chosen one of the package sessions, the number of total sessions is predetermined (see Questions 03 + 05 for more info on the package sessions). For group sessions, the total number of sessions is also predetermined (more info on groups will be coming soon). For non-package therapy sessions, the total number of sessions will vary for each individual/couple/family. Many clients see great benefits within 10-12 sessions (at weekly or bi-weekly pace), at which point they may decide to participate less frequently (“checking in” periodically to help stay on track). The frequency and duration of therapy are tailored to each individual’s or family’s needs.
