About me
MARIA PARRY, LMFT
Hello
I’m Maria.
“Whole Hearts Connect” is about the journey of healing and growth toward wholehearted connection with self, others, and God.
So how do we begin this transition from living out our cover story to living out our whole, authentic story? That’s where I’d love to help. In the recent years, I have fallen in love with the tool of the Enneagram that has helped to guide others and myself in a transformational path toward healing and wholeness. My desire is to combine this tool with my education in psychotherapy to help individuals, couples, and families develop personal and relational growth, healing, and wholeness. It would be my privilege to help you navigate through this exciting, eye-opening, sometimes scary and painful, yet absolutely worthwhile journey.
A little bit about myself: I was born in Japan, spent my teen and college years in Southern California, found a husband and started a family in Florida, and now reside with my family in Greenville, South Carolina. My husband and I are total opposites, but we absolutely love and embrace this adventure called marriage. We have four children and a hard “no pets” rule. I love to hike, have coffee with a close friend, and explore my creative side. My recent favorite hobbies include bullet journaling and digital art. I identify with Enneagram Type 2 (with heavy 1 wing).
Professional bio
I graduated with a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy from Liberty University in 2019. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of South Carolina. I have a passion for helping marriages restore and/or thrive, which led me to complete Level 1 & 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I’m a certified facilitator in the two premarital/marriage assessments below (click on each logo for more info). As stated above, I’m also a big fan of the Enneagram and love to incorporate this valuable tool into my counseling practice. I am a Certified Narrative Enneagram Practitioner since 2021.
I am a firm believer in the holistic approach, which means that our goal will be to explore and integrate all the dimensions of our being: head, heart, body, and spirit. I am a follower of Jesus, I believe in His love and power, and I believe every person encompasses a unique image of God that is meant to be shared with the world. Integrating spiritual language in our sessions (or not) will be completely up to you.
For those who are savvy in psychotherapy lingo, my theoretical orientation includes a variety of techniques in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (for couples).
